Dr. John H. Jackson Honored by EBONY Magazine as One of 2017’s Power 100 African American Influencers
Dr. John H. Jackson, President and CEO of the Schott Foundation, was selected by EBONY Magazine as one of 100 inspiring African American leaders.
Ebony will honor Dr. Jackson as a Community Crusader for his work as a strategic leader in philanthropy and a staunch advocate for public school students. Dr. Jackson will join a star-studded cast of honorees on December 1st in Los Angeles, CA including Oprah Winfrey, Kendrick Lamar, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Hart, Viola Davis, Chance the Rapper, Magic and Cookie Johnson, Angela Rye and many more.
2017 EBONY Power 100 list recognizes the most influential and inspiring African-Americans in a variety of categories including sports, technology and community activism.
In selecting Dr. Jackson, EBONY noted, “Working for policy change that both brings up-to-date resources to neglected schools and provides the access to opportunity needed for overall academic success earns him an A+.”
On receiving the honor, Dr. Jackson noted, “I am very thankful to EBONY Magazine to be a 2017 honoree. I am especially excited to be part of a cast of 100 outstanding individuals where the majority of the honorees from every sector are public school graduates. This is further evidence that our public school system works and as cities increase their commitment to providing student-centered healthy living and learning supports for children and families our public school educators and systems will continue to produce generations of amazing individuals.

Johnson Award, named after my father, the founder of EBONY magazine. The first recipient of this award will be business titan, investor and philanthropist Robert F. Smith,” Johnson Rice adds.
