SCHOTT FOUNDATION IMPACT REPORT 2026

Afterword

When I think of Multiplying Love, I think about what becomes possible when people come together around a shared commitment to young people, families, and communities.

Throughout my career, I’ve seen love multiplied when people closest to the challenges shape the solutions. Communities make that possibility real every day through organizing, leadership, and collective action. Love multiplied is when philanthropy shows up not just when a crisis hits, but by investing in communities’ long-term, sustainable power. Those beliefs are why I am proud to serve as Chair of the Schott Foundation’s Board of Directors.

At both Schott and the Black Freedom Fund, we understand that youth well-being requires more than responding to immediate needs. It requires investing in the people, relationships, and community power that create the conditions for young people to thrive.

Youth well-being happens when young people have lives filled with opportunity and promise. This well-being is connected to social connection, mental and physical health, AI and tech literacy, educational opportunity, economic mobility, healthy environments, and supportive communities. As we look to improve the well-being of our youth, we must improve the conditions that shape them holistically.

As a funder, I have seen how individual grants matter, but our collective investment can achieve something greater. Our collaboration allows us to effect change across sectors, moving from silos to collective action. It also means more patient capital and a shared commitment to long-term investment that can build and sustain community power and voice.

Schott is a national, Black-led intermediary that connects local leaders, communities, and funders to collaborate and sustain community-led policy change that advances youth well-being. Schott brings new ideas, strategies, and expertise that travel across state lines and regional boundaries. Through Schott’s pooling of funds, it amplifies investments by consolidating efforts that otherwise would be siloed.

Multiplying love is what happens when we invest in the people and communities closest to the challenges and trust them to shape the future. Join us!
