The Schott Foundation’s core belief is that a broad-based grassroots movement is central to creating the systemic change that is needed to address the disparities poor children and children of color face in our nation’s public education system.

To help build this movement, Schott provides grants and other supports to campaigns led by parents, students and other advocates seeking to bring equity to the following issue areas:

In its pivotal role as both funder and advocate, Schott has supported strategies such as media campaigns, community organizing, litigation, leadership development, ballot initiatives and action research to build public will to guarantee that every child has access to high quality public education.

ABFE: Association of Black Foundation Executives
Partnering with foundations, nonprofits and individuals, ABFE provides its members with professional development and technical assistance resources that further the philanthropic sector’s connection and responsiveness to issues of equality, diversity and inclusion.
Active Voice Lab
Active Voice Lab is a nonprofit network of seasoned strategists, led by Ellen Schneider. They help funders, advocates, media makers, and other leaders skillfully and collaboratively use story to advance social change. Based in San Francisco, they work with allies in the U.S. and beyond.
Advancement Project
Advancement Project is a next generation, multi-racial civil rights organization. Rooted in the great human rights struggles for equality and justice, we exist to fulfill America’s promise of a caring, inclusive and just democracy. We use innovative tools and strategies to strengthen social movements and achieve high impact policy change.
Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools

The Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools is a national alliance of parent, youth and community organizations and labor groups fighting for educational justice and equity in access to school resources and opportunities.

Annenberg Institute for School Reform
The Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University is a national policy-research and reform support organization that promotes quality education for all children, especially in urban communities.
