The Schott Foundation’s core belief is that a broad-based grassroots movement is central to creating the systemic change that is needed to address the disparities poor children and children of color face in our nation’s public education system.

To help build this movement, Schott provides grants and other supports to campaigns led by parents, students and other advocates seeking to bring equity to the following issue areas:

In its pivotal role as both funder and advocate, Schott has supported strategies such as media campaigns, community organizing, litigation, leadership development, ballot initiatives and action research to build public will to guarantee that every child has access to high quality public education.

The mission of Beyond the Bricks Project is to produce media based work that engages local communities around issues that impact equity in education for all students.
Breaking Our Chains
Californians for Justice

Californians for Justice is a statewide grassroots organization working for racial justice by building the power of youth, communities of color, immigrants, low-income families, and LGBTQ communities.

Campaign for Black Male Achievement
The Campaign for Black Male Achievement (CBMA) is a national membership network that seeks to ensure the growth, sustainability, and impact of leaders and organizations committed to improving the life outcomes of Black men and boys. CBMA is a growing member network that currently includes more than 4,703 leaders representing nearly 2,555 organizations and programs across the country.
Communities for Just Schools Fund
The Communities for Just Schools Fund (CJSF) is a national donor collaborative that supports constituency-led organizing efforts to create positive and supportive school climates, which affirm and foster the success of all students. Building upon the groundbreaking initiatives of the Just and Fair Schools Fund, the Communities for Just Schools Fund is relaunching that body of work and expanding its efforts to support locally-based groups and campaigns active at the local, state, and national levels, which provide momentum for meaningful school climate and school discipline reform. The Communities for Just Schools Fund is housed at the New Venture Fund.
