By now you've likely heard of the Federal Equity and Excellence Commission and its bold report, For Each and Every Child, that calls for a new direction in education policy focused on equity and opportunity. The report touches on everything from fair funding and wraparound supports for kids to early education and well-prepared and effective teachers. But how do you package all that together to build a movement and organize for change in your community?
On June 19th at 2 p.m. EST, the OTL Campaign is hosting a free webinar to answer exactly that question. We'll be talking with:
- David Sciarra, Executive Director, Education Law Center; Commissioner, Equity and Excellence Commission
- Ocynthia Williams, Parent Organizer with the Coalition for Educational Justice, New York
- Rich Huddleston, Executive Director, Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families
David Sciarra will offer an overview of the various issues raised in the report and how they connect into a new strategy for education reform. Ocynthia Williams and Rich Huddleston have played vital roles in helping build successful, multi-issue campaigns in their state, and they'll share the victories and challenges they've had along the way.
P.S. We just released an "Education Declaration to Rebuild America" that outlines a new direction for education policy based on supports for students, teachers and schools.
