Who better to talk about the challenges and opportunities young women of color face in education than the young women themselves?
That's the thinking behind the Wellesley Centers for Women project "Promoting Public Awareness of the Road to Educational Equity for Girls of Color: A Multi-level Strategy."
As part of this ongoing project, the Centers for Women partnered with Boston-based Teen Voices to produce a short video series featuring teens "as the experts and agents of their own learning experiences, offering examples of effective strategies and solutions for closing the opportunity gap." The goal of the project is to promote public discourse about barriers to educational equity for girls of color and push for change in education policy and practice.
The video series, which also offers the perspectives of educators, after-school mentors, administrators and policymakers, will be premiered at Wellesley College on October 18th. (The event is free, so click here for more details.) The videos will then be uploaded to YouTube and Facebook, and we'll update this post with the videos as soon as they become available!
